Radiator Installation in Crawley — Heating Repairs Done Right

A cold radiator, a heating system that's never quite warmed the back bedroom, or a straight swap to a bigger radiator in a room that's always been cold — this is where we spend a lot of our time. Radiator installation and replacement, power flushing, valve and towel rail fitting, and tracing cold spots back to the actual cause, across Crawley and the wider Sussex, Surrey, South London and Kent area. Fully insured, honest pricing, no guesswork.

What we cover on radiator and heating work

Central heating problems are rarely as simple as "the radiator's broken" — cold spots, poor circulation and sludge build-up can all show up as a radiator that won't warm up, and the right fix depends on which one it actually is. We work on the radiators, valves, pipework and the water side of your heating system across Crawley and the wider Sussex area, diagnosing properly before we recommend anything.

Radiator installation and replacement

Whether it's a straight like-for-like swap or upsizing a radiator in a room that's never quite been warm enough, we size the new radiator properly against the room rather than just matching what's already there. Old radiators are drained down and removed, the new one's fitted, and the system's rebalanced afterwards so the change doesn't just move the cold spot to the next room along.

Power flushing

Sludge builds up in a heating system over years — corrosion, scale and debris settling in the bottom of radiators and narrowing the pipework — and it's usually the reason for cold bottoms, a noisy system, or radiators that need bleeding constantly. A power flush forces clean water through the system under pressure to clear it out, and it's often the difference between replacing radiators one by one and getting years more out of the system you've already got.

Cold-spot diagnosis

Cold at the top of the radiator usually means trapped air and needs bleeding. Cold at the bottom, or cold in patches, usually means sludge or debris settled inside — bleeding won't fix that, and it's a sign the system needs a proper flush. We diagnose which one it actually is rather than reaching for the bleed key as the default answer to every cold radiator in the house.

Valves, TRVs and towel rails

Thermostatic radiator valves let you control room-by-room instead of heating the whole house to warm one, and a seized or leaking valve is one of the most common reasons for a radiator that won't respond properly. We replace valves, lockshields and towel rail valves, and fit heated towel rails as standalone jobs or as part of a wider bathroom refit.

Heating pipework repairs

A weeping valve, a corroded joint or a pipe that's started dripping where it feeds a radiator is worth sorting before it becomes a bigger leak. We repair and replace heating pipework on the water side of the system, and if what you're actually dealing with is a proper burst rather than a slow drip, that's covered by our burst pipe repair service instead.

How radiator and heating work works

Three steps. No surprises.

1

Diagnose and agree the fix

Cold radiator, sludged-up system, or a straight new install — we work out what's actually going on before quoting anything, so you're not paying to fix the wrong problem. You get a clear price before any work starts.

2

Do the work properly

Whether it's draining down a single radiator or flushing the whole system, we protect your flooring and furniture, work cleanly, and don't cut corners on work that's hidden behind a radiator for the next ten years.

3

Refill, bleed, test and tidy

The system is repressurised, radiators bled and balanced, every joint checked for leaks, and the area left as we found it. You get an itemised VAT invoice and can pay by card with Stripe Tap to Pay, by bank transfer, or cash.

Heating problems often turn up alongside other plumbing issues. For a heating pipe that's actually burst rather than just cold, see burst pipe repair across Sussex. Fitting a heated towel rail as part of a bathroom refit is best done together — see bathroom installation in Crawley. And if you've got a warm patch on the floor or a rising water bill rather than a cold radiator, that's more likely a hidden leak — see leak detection across Sussex. Frequently asked questions

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Plumbing, drainage and building work are our trade. For gas appliances, gas pipework or boilers we'll point you to a Gas Safe registered engineer (gassaferegister.co.uk) — the right trade on every part of the job. Everything on this page — radiators, valves, power flushing, pipework — is water-side heating work, which doesn't need Gas Safe registration. If you ever smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

What's a power flush and do I need one?

It's a process that forces clean water through your heating system under pressure to clear out the sludge, scale and debris that builds up over years. You probably need one if radiators are cold at the bottom, the system's noisy, or you're replacing radiators one by one because they keep struggling — a flush is often cheaper than replacing radiators individually and gets the whole system working properly again.

Can you replace a single radiator, or does it have to be the whole system?

Just the one, in most cases. A single radiator swap is a contained job — drain that part of the system down, fit the new radiator, refill and rebalance. Whole-system work only comes into it if the problem, like widespread sludge, is actually system-wide rather than local to one room.

Why is my radiator cold at the top or the bottom?

Cold at the top usually means trapped air — an easy fix with a bleed key. Cold at the bottom, or cold in patches, usually means sludge or debris has settled inside and bleeding won't touch it — that needs a proper flush. We'll tell you honestly which one it is rather than assuming.

How much does radiator or heating work cost?

It depends on the job — a single valve replacement is a different job to a full-system power flush, so we won't put a number here that ends up misleading you. You get a clear price agreed before any work starts, then you pay for the time on the job plus materials, with a VAT receipt.
