How we price

Most people ringing a plumber are not really asking "how much" — they are asking "am I about to be stung". This page is the honest answer to that, without a made-up headline figure attached to it.

You don't pay for us to turn up

There is no charge just for arriving. We look at the job, tell you what is actually wrong, and you agree the price before any work starts. If it turns out to be something we can talk you through on the phone in two minutes, we would rather do that.

The price is agreed before the work, not after

For planned work — a bathroom, a kitchen, radiators, an outside tap — you get a free written quote. We come and look properly first, because quoting a job from a photograph is how nasty surprises get built in.

For an emergency call-out we explain exactly how the charging works on the phone before we set off, so nothing about the bill is a surprise when it arrives. You get a VAT receipt by email either way.

Why we don't publish a price list

Because it would be misleading, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

A dripping tap and a full bathroom refit are not comparable jobs. Any single figure big enough to cover the second is meaningless for the first, and any figure small enough to look attractive for the first is a number that will have to change on the day. Published plumbing prices are usually a starting figure, not a finishing one — and the gap between those two is where people get caught out.

So we quote the actual job in front of us. It is a slower answer than a price list, and it is the honest one.

What actually changes the price

Access

A leak reachable under a bath panel is a different job to the same leak under a tiled floor. We will tell you when access is what is driving the number, and whether there is a cheaper way at it.

The age of the pipework

On older systems the fitting next to the one being replaced is often at the end of its life too. We would rather flag that while we are there than have you pay twice for the same access.

Whether the parts are standard

Most jobs finish in one visit because the van carries the common fittings. Where a part has to be ordered in — an obsolete cartridge, a particular shower valve — we will tell you before you commit, not afterwards.

Time of day

Nights and weekends cost more to staff, so they cost more. That is normal across the trade; what is not normal is finding out afterwards.

Materials are our job, not yours

We supply the materials for the work. You are not sent to a merchant with a list, and you are not left waiting while someone goes to find a part that should have been on the van. Everything appears on the quote before you agree to it.

Paying

Card on the day — tap your card or phone — bank transfer, or cash. VAT receipt by email afterwards, every time. For larger planned jobs we can quote in advance and invoice on 14-day terms.

What customers say about the price

We are not going to tell you we are the cheapest plumber in Crawley, because we are not trying to be. Here is what customers have said about the pricing in their own words, on public review platforms you can check yourself.

"Absolute pleasure to invite Danny from D.T. Plumbing and Building to come over at short notice and mend my cistern. I would be very happy to recommend Danny, thoroughly professional and tidy."

Sarah Wells, Pulborough — 5★ on Google, July 2026. Her review is titled "Reasonable price".

"Worked quickly and efficiently… charged a fair price. Would use him again."

Karen Jones, Crawley — 5★ on MyBuilder

Across Google and MyBuilder we hold 41 verified reviews — 4.9 on Google, 4.8 on MyBuilder. Both are public and both are one click away.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a plumber cost in Crawley?

It depends entirely on the job, which is why we won't publish a single figure — a dripping tap and a full bathroom refit are not comparable, and any headline number would be misleading for one of them. What we will do is tell you the price before the work starts, not after.

Where can I find an affordable plumber in Crawley?

Be careful with headline prices — the cheapest quote often becomes the most expensive job once the extras appear. What actually keeps a plumbing bill down is a price agreed in writing before anyone starts, no charge just for turning up, a van carrying enough stock to finish in one visit rather than three, and a plumber who tells you when a repair will do instead of selling you a replacement.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. We don't charge just to turn up. You get an honest assessment first and agree the price before any work starts.

Do you charge for quotes?

No — quotes on planned work are free, and written.

How do I know I'm not being overcharged?

Ask four things before anyone starts. Is the price agreed in writing first, or worked out at the end? Is there a separate charge just for arriving? Are materials included, or added later at a rate nobody mentioned? And will you get a VAT receipt? A VAT-registered business giving you a proper receipt has a paper trail it cannot walk away from. We are VAT registered (VRN 515 8660 77), we quote before we start, and every job gets a VAT receipt.
